We are witnessing the end of "North Americanism." The old framework of security provided by Washington is unraveling, revealing that what we thought was peace was actually a narcotized state of alienation. The era of undisputed Yankee dominance is over.

Bismarck’s remark about Italy—"a large appetite and rotten teeth"—perfectly describes the EU today. It is an economic giant that has utterly failed to transform its wealth into credible military or geopolitical power.
