@Paydirt_Profile @MarkZinno The sample size where he’s actually played like that is a small fraction of his career. Recent, yes. But he underwhelmed for literal years. Poor QB play sure, but also brick hands and low effort from him at times. I’m personally not sold, and the team has a lot of needs.

Average TE? I mean, he's not without flaws but he's much better than average. At his worst, he needs to improve as a blocker at the point of attack and to give more consistent effort even when things are going wrong. But at his best he's a matchup NIGHTMARE, RZ threat, RAC threat, can play outside as WR2, win against S/CBs/LBs, and can anchor the passing game if London goes down. Are people really going to look at this list and scoff at paying him three more million than Dalton Schultz? He's younger and provides more long-term upside than anyone on this list making less than 15 mil. (Sans 1st rounders Warren and Loveland who are further down). Someone is going to pay him because that's what his talent and age dictates. It's funny how so many people have this type of thought process about TE but not at QB, where AVERAGE starters are being paid almost 40 million.

It's not a move I hate ... but I don't love it either. It's a lot for an average TE, but relatively it's not a number against the cap that hurts you in the big picture. #Falcons
