Man, I miss John Prine. I’ll use this to tell the story of how I discovered his music. Circa 2015 or so, I saw that Jason Isbell was playing a show and opening for “some guy” named John Prine. I bought a ticket and went to the show to see Jason and figured I’d end up leaving if I didn’t like the final act. John came out dancing and goofing around and played Glory of True Love, my attention was officially piqued. Then the 4th song comes and it’s Spanish Pipedream. I’m just completely in awe. Like I’d discovered fire or electricity. He closed his set with Sam Stone and Paradise. I sat there with tears in my eyes as he left the stage. The best 100 dollars I’ve ever spent. I think back to that night often and just feel grateful that for a few hours I got to share a room with the greatest song writer ever, in my opinion. Cracking a beer at 11:45 because I just finished yard work and it is so hot and beer replenishes electrolytes, too! Sad thing is I didn’t do the whole yard and I’m still exhausted. Gonna have to start splitting front and back to different days.

I’ve had several dogs in my life. My sweet Rooney is definitely a bright light. He adores little Willow from the start and she was his baby sister. Willow is a major concern as I consider how to say goodbye. ❤️
