This is absolute cope. Somalia’s oil isn’t really projected to start meaningful production in the next decade — we’re talking decades, maybe. Drilling has just started, but commercial production is still years away even if they actually find anything substantial. On top of that, it will take a good amount of additional years to get the actual oil flowing at scale, and that comes with its own massive hurdles. Somalia is a barren, unstable land with almost zero functioning infrastructure or security. The risk in this venture is enormous by itself. Most Niger-congo nations like Nigeria, Angola, etc figured this out back in the 90s. The fact that Somalia has such a huge late start is very, very bad. Plus, oil is being phased out in the coming decades anyway — nations should be moving away from it, not banking their entire future on it.And let’s not act like this “civil war ending” nonsense is real. Even with Turkish support, they still haven’t degraded the insurgency. Al-Shabaab remains a serious threat in the south and center, with insurgents tied to groups like the Houthis. Not to mention ISIS-Somalia, which is still active in the north. These terrorist groups aren’t going anywhere anytime soon — and they will objectively threaten the very oil prospects you’re talking about.Besides the enormous narrative you’re pushing, Somaliland already operates as a de facto independent state and has even gained recognition from Israel. Other states like Puntland feel emboldened by this and are constantly clashing with the central authority. Your nation is going through division, and you’re objectively just lying out your ass to your Zoomali diaspora in Sweden and elsewhere.
