As I see the transphobia spreading like a Covid of the mind, it makes me notice the spread of the idea that being *trans* is the trendy social contagion. Seems to me if there's a social contagion, it's the anti-trans mind virus that's spreading at R0=3.14x10^23.

Last night I voted to keep the motion on the table because I thought a decision should be made. The community spent time and effort on the motion and deserved an answer. Prolonging the issue only extends the anxieties and fears of those who'll be impacted.

@MmeKazemzadeh The IHRA definition is wrong in a subtle way: instead of being opposed to anti-Semitism, it is in favour of protecting Israel from criticism. It's not anti-anti-Semitic: it's pro-Israel. We can love our Jewish neighbours and oppose Israeli aggression at the same time.

@MmeKazemzadeh I've seen a good dozen anti-Semitic graffiti in the 30 years I've lived here. None had anything to do with Palestinians. It has always been Nazis and their ilk. Always. We need to recognize the enemy among us, and it is white supremacy.

@ActingOutWR @MovatSusie @birgitomo Things will just be reversed. It is human nature to hire people you relate with. Go to a business in Brampton or Markham their will be few white people working. Companies now have non white hiring practices. One group of people will always dominate another.

A white nurse literally said one of the roles that shouldn't exist in hospitals is the office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI). She said it's a waste of resources. She's a typical example of privilege and a beneficiary of racism. People like her are everywhere.

@kinneqr @Llove2chat @birgitomo White privilege, I'll answer in case you meant this in good faith, is measured in what does not happen to us. We don't get followed around stores like Black Canadians. We don't get told to go back to our countries when someone gets mad at us. It's not difficult to understand.

None of us Unity Mosque organizers are oblivious to the fact that our audience last night was predominantly White & older. There’s nothing wrong with that, I’m simply reminded that connecting with & inviting other Muslims into space with us will be an uphill climb. So we climb.

Asking already overworked nurses to extend their shifts to 16hrs will never ever resolve the nursing crisis. Instead, this will burn down the few nurses left, lead to workplace injuries & medication errors, & negatively affect patient outcomes. Fix the broken system & pay nurses.
