Unpaid internships allow privileged students who don’t need the money to get ahead of those who need to to be paid in order to afford rent, food, and tuition. It’s a constant cycle, that allows wealthier students to capitalize on an opportunity others simply can’t afford.

@sarahjenkinsxo It’s absolutely unheard of for engineering internships to be unpaid, and why is that? Because engineering companies make so much money so they are able to pay their interns. If you work in a industry pays their employees 40k a year then ofc you will have an unpaid internship.

@sarahjenkinsxo So you want to be paid for interning? choose a harder major. I get paid very well for my internship and I am not a wealthy student at all and I know of CS majors who get $45 an hour as interns.

@sarahjenkinsxo However, if you choose a internship where you make a higher salary coming out of college, such as engineering. You will be paid and you will be paid VERY well as an intern. Based off the difficulty of your major is more than likely the reason your internship is unpaid.

@sarahjenkinsxo This is laughable. Unpaid vs paid internships are completely based on your major and the company you’re interning for. If you choose a major such as communications where you will obtain a very low salary out of college then ofc your internship is going to be unpaid.

Observation: many polarizing politicians actually LIKE each other, privately help each other, then publicly stir the pot, playing for votes. That’s fine. Only thing wrong with it is when we buy it whole cloth, breeding intolerance, anger and total inability to laugh at ANYTHING.
