@toomanynewfies @flyosity It’s okay to have a safe deposit box and it’s even okay to keep a will in there, the issue comes when it’s the ONLY official copy of the will because then no one can get access to the document that would be used to show who should get access to the box.

@AddisonMueller @flyosity So when naming a beneficiary to any account also add them as an owner to the box. Really avoid the box if possible - nothing in it is insured and authorities can seize property from entire vaults if the bank, an employee or customers are under investigation.

As I handle my late Mom's estate, I want to give you all an important piece of advice to tuck away in the back of your head:
Never ever keep the official, signed version of your Will in a safety deposit box at a bank that no other family members have access to

@Drosent23 @toomanynewfies @flyosity The executor of the will or an appointed personal representative would get access to the contents. The issue comes when the only official copy of the will is in the box because then no one is able to get access to it to get the will to show who should have access to it.

@toomanynewfies @flyosity Former bank employee here to note that safe deposit boxes don’t work like normal accounts and generally cannot have beneficiaries, only full co-owners. The executor/representative would get access to open it with the right paperwork but if the will is in the box you need a court

@flyosity Who did she name as a beneficiary of her accounts and deposit box at the bank? A death certficate taken to the bank by the pay on death beneficiary is rock solid

@OptimisticOsi @flyosity Hi worked at a bank and dealt with this exact situation, if the will is in the SDB and no other official copy exists anywhere else you would generally have to go to probate court to have someone named as representative before you’re allowed to open it

@flyosity If you’re the name beneficiary on the account, give them a debt certificate and you’ll have access to all of it, if you’re not the beneficiary on the account, but someone or you are in the will tell them they need to go open that box and read the will.

@PattyBourree The original plan was to have the trial etc be the third act, and they even filmed it, but then they found out that per the terms of one of the settlements no movie/tv depiction of that all can be made, so they had to pivot off that and film new stuff

So does “Michael” just completely ignore the drama and allegations of his later life? I’m actually open to various interpretations of this period but his life has three acts that, while very clearly delineated, cannot be understood separately

AMC A List is one of those subscriptions actually worth it, it pays itself off in in 2 visits to a standard screen, or 1 visit in a premium format alone
