Well yes and no. Sometimes we get attached to our machines. Like an old friend who has been through a lot with us. It’s not as much in the modern times but there were songs talking about people’s attachement to cars. I met a guy once who I was helping as a kid whose eyes lit up when he finally got an old car to start up. I don’t know the full history of it but he had gotten it from his father and spent years teaching himself to fix it and replaced the whole engine over many years after the engine blew up when he was ypunger.
