Hy Oracle Frinds I know that a Gui has written a Tool to Practise RMAN Restore with multiple Scenarios that crashes a Database and then you can try to fix it😉. I don't remember the name of the tool. i'm thankfull for a hint

Hey @Qlik_DACH. We run qlik replication with postgres sql as source database but in HA Configuration. Is it not possible to add primary and Standby site to the connection string? Currently we have to adapt the string after a switchover and that's bad. On oracle it works.

In #Oracle we have OID /OUD to manage connection Infos for databases central instead of TNS Names entries. Is there a same solution in #PostgreSQL? In the doc i only find infos to manage users over ldap but not the connections

@ludodba @BleileClemens one last question. If i have two stby and one should operate sync and the other async because of the distance, what is the right config to achive it?

@BleileClemens @AlainFuhrer ☝️ What Clemens says 🙃 For two reasons: 1. Testing is believing 😜 2. Max Availability or Max Protection require at least a SYNC standby, at any time. If you don't, it will never get SYNCHRONIZED, so you are never getting what you are trying to achieve.

Hi Oracle Friends. #Oracle Doc says, that DG Mode Max Availability assumes, that redo transfer is "sync". But you can define the LogXptMode for a Max Availabilty config as "async". So is the transport in this situation async or sync..? Thanks for feedback😀

@CGohmannDE Thanks for the feedbacks. I think also that internally it switch back to max performance, but i could not proof it. @ludodba can you help😉

@AlainFuhrer I guess that it switches to Maximum Performance mode internally when async is used. Only sync and fastsync are supported for Maximum Availability mode. Did you check the alert and dr logs if this configuration is raising errors?

@fdernoncourt I've worked in projects with 1TB TEMP tablespace before... it exists. Could it be avoided with better code? Most likely!

A #DBA colleague just showed me an #orclDB with 9 files of 32GB each for the TEMP tablespace! Have you guys ever seen an application that requires that much? We're talking 290GB here. I usually knock on the heads of developers when they break the ceiling of ONE TEMP smallfile!
