April 24th, 2026 I am initiating a thread of poems about pain.Not for revenge.Not for proof. Not to provoke. Just for the part of me that has whispered for too long. Here, the hurt does not have to be pretty. It only has to be true.

You learn to hate yourself so deeply
that you cradle his cruelty like it's your fault.
Every wound he gives you, you rename it guilt.
You lose your mind in the corners of his silence,
run toward the edge again and again
and he never once looks up.
But I cannot forget the one time I fell.
My body gave out after I begged him,
Take me to the hospital,
and he called it an act.
As if collapse could be a performance.
As if pain dressed itself for an audience.
So may God never set me down
in a room where I am made small,
where my womanhood is a thing to be questioned,
where my suffering needs his permission to exist.
And if I am ever placed there again
if I am ever made less than I am
let me go quickly.
Let me leave before I forget my own name.
Let me die suddenly, like a candle without wind,
rather than burn slowly for someone who will not even watch the flame.🙏

I judged her fast, loud; convinced I was right; because a grown man was crying.
It felt personal; like it could’ve been my brother; so I picked a side without knowing the full story.
Then she spoke.
And everything shifted.
Because I’ve been her.
In a relationship where the love lasted one month; and the silence lasted a year.
He wouldn’t call me; but he’d call people around me.
He wouldn’t answer me; but he’d show up for everyone else.
He gave them money; they assumed I was getting more. And I made more enemies while suffering 😊.
I was there; but invisible.
Loved; but not spoken to.
Fighting battles no one could see.
So when people ask why she acted the way she did; I understand.
Neglect doesn’t look loud; but it destroys quietly.
Social media will always side with tears; but tears don’t tell the full story.
I’m sorry I judged her too early; but now I know; there’s always another side.
Sometimes; the villain is just someone who stayed too long where they were no longer loved.
This is my personal story.
