Let's talk about Energy Vampires. 🧛‍♂️ You don’t have to believe in woo woo stuff to know that Energy Vampirism is real and understand how it works. Everything in the universe is made up of energy. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only transmuted. Humans are not outside this law. We, too, are energy. And we carry certain frequencies with us. Every time we have an interaction with another human being, whether it’s physical touch, a conversation, making eye contact on the subway, a text message or email, or even watching someone on a screen, there is an exchange of energy. Have you ever noticed that after talking to or being around a certain person you consistently feel either uplifted or drained? That’s caused by whether that person is either fairly exchanging energy with you (balanced - people can charge each other like a battery), or siphoning energy from you (unbalanced). Yes, there are some people who know how to do this and do it intentionally. But most Energy Vampires probably don’t even realize they are one. (There's actually a lot of subtle witchcraft and spell work people unwittingly engage in without realizing, but that's a topic for another day.) Energy Vampires are drawn to social media, and I typically block or mute the ones I come across. You guys should see how extensive my mute list is. 😂 It’s nothing personal for the most part, some of them are people I actually kind of like or think are nice, but they don’t realize how exhausting their energy is. Blocking, muting, and setting boundaries is merely a reflection of something I’ve learned over the years to protect myself, and it’s served me well. I always find it a bit amusing when people boast about being blocked by someone as if it’s some kind of scalp they’ve collected. Whether the person who blocked you is an asshole or not, you’ve only proven you have no chill and made yourself too obvious. It’s the difference between being a sniper and an idiot firing off their gun on the 4th of July and getting arrested. Another reason it's important to understand Energy Vampirism is so we can keep ourselves in check. Like I said, most people who do it have no concept of it and don’t even realize they do it. Unknowingly taking in a bunch of energy might sound like a good thing, but not all energy is the same. I don’t have a perfect term for it, but think of it as “dirty” energy, you don’t always know where it’s been or what it’s carrying. It’s kind of like going around making out with everyone you meet. You could be picking up energetic lice and spiritual mouth herpes. Absorbing a bunch of unclean energy can have a detrimental impact on your health; physically, mentally and spiritually. I recommend paying more attention to your energy levels and how you feel every time you have an exchange with other people, and use those observations to set boundaries and protect yourself where you can. 🩷

@kate_awakening I don't want to be cynical, but a research study would need to define "cynical". We also would need to be in line with how the researchers define "intelligence" as there is not just one. I do think spotting BS sounds like a learned skill that might be coping for deficiencies. 🙃

Can I bake your noodle for a second? Did you know that cynicism is often a sign of LOWER intelligence, not higher? We’ve been fed this popular myth for a long time. The world is full of cynical characters in movies and culture (think Dr. House or Sherlock Homes) who “see through the BS” and come off as the smartest guys in the room. We’ve learned to assume cynics are sharper and better at problem solving, there’s actually a name for this, “Cynical Genius Illusion.” And it’s a widespread belief that data thoroughly dunks on. In 2019, a major study (link in next tweet) analyzed beliefs about cynicism across multiple experiments, then tested reality against 200,000 people from 30 countries. It showed: 1. Participants expected cynical individuals to outperform non-cynics on cognitive tasks like problem-solving, calculations, and academic competency tests. 2. The reality was the opposite, higher cynicism reliably predicted lower scores on cognitive ability tests, academic performance and education levels. Cynical people did worse, not better. This held across cultures. The world is complex. Lower cognitive ability struggles with nuance and defaults to the simplest negative story. Of course skepticism has its place. But higher intelligence excels at decoding and calibrating strategically with an open mind. Intelligence strongly correlates with the Big Five trait of Openness to Experience, which includes curiosity, willingness to consider new ideas, and seeing gray areas. Rigid cynicism is the opposite, it closes you off to positive data so you operate in more of a fixed world view. Cynicism doesn’t just correlate with lower cognition and test scores, it predicts worse life results as well, less rich relationships, poorer health, and less overall life experiences. Anecdotally, I thought of the people I know who are the most cynical, their lives often seem narrower in scope. They tend to have traveled less, lived in less places, built fewer deep, meaningful or varied relationships, and have had less interesting experiences. I don’t mean never seeing a ghost or a UFO (though I’m pretty sure they haven’t), I mean a more sheltered life in general. Interestingly, they also have typically faced less adversity or hardship in life, the kind that forces growth, introspection, perspective and resilience. They also have less curiosity, less openness to wonder, less creative or meaningful ideas, and a reluctance to entertain ideas that fall outside their established framework. From my perspective, they have less of a sense of humor, especially about themselves, and don’t take criticism well. Basically, they have no joy or whimsy and are no fun at all. 😂 Cynicism masquerades as intelligence and intellectualism. But cynics aren’t seeing deeper, they’re actually seeing less. I just thought that was interesting. I think consciousness is changing and the future will value and hold reverence for different kinds of intelligence than we do now. Especially as the disclosure about the world gets more fringe, I don’t think we’ll be putting as much weight on what the cynics are saying.

@jason_howerton It amazes me how many don’t truly understand what separation of church and state is. Our constitution was founded upon Christian values and it is the ONLY constitution in the world that invokes the Creator. My patience for lukewarm Christians is at an all time low.
