@ScottFriedman3 @real_davebrooks @coachella We ordered 2 separate tickets. One wristband arrived last Thursday. The other didn’t. We received an email from StubHub about selecting a replacement or opting for a refund. We’re going to Will Call in person. It sucks because it’s just me and my husband with only one band.

Going on @real_davebrooks later this afternoon to talk @coachella 🎟️ chaos

NBC News just exposed how this really works.
260 concerts.
$81 MILLION in ticket sales.
On paper?
The shows lost over $1.5 MILLION.
That’s the “Promoter Profit” number.
Behind the scenes?
Live Nation made $15+ MILLION.
Same shows.
Two completely different profit numbers.
They call it “Contribution Margin.”
So the show “loses money”…
but Live Nation still walks away with millions.
Artists get squeezed.
Fans pay more.
And the real profits stay hidden.
And artists aren’t even allowed to question the expenses.
Read that again.
$1.5M loss on paper.
$15M profit internally.
This is the business model.

@toomuchtosee__ A speaker detached from one of the structures in the Do Lab during Summit’s set due to the wind and fell on a girl. I guess Coachella was being super cautious.

Wow, listened to this and learned.
Tommy was built himself up to be one of the biggest night club promoters became a pioneer in EDM house music, so he got into festivals and signed an exclusive 10 year deal with the largest state fair in the East Coast which Metlife Stadium was home to, to produce all concerts & festivals. Tommy decided to throw the biggest EDM festival of the time. He and his partners pioneered the sound.
UNTIL LIVE NATION FOUND OUT ABOUT IT
They felt that any event over 10K people needs to be ran through them. Live Nation stopped the #1 DJ in the world at the time from joining, blocked all of their talent from the William Morris Agency(Live Nations exclusive talent agency), and even used their power with the New Jersey Sports Authority (Live Nation claimed as their turf) which was the landlord for the festival and even told them they would block their tickets from Ticketmaster.
They needed to have a meeting with them to fix it. If you've been paying attention to the trial of Ticketmaster lately, you know these things aren't out of the ordinary for them. They threatened to have Tommy and his festival kicked out and completely blocked unless he kicked his current partners out and bring them on. They were behind in the EDM scene, they seen it about to break through and wanted a piece.
Tommy said no. Live Nation made true on it's promises and the event was cancelled. Tommy was nominated by fans as the #1 promoter in "The New Jersey Star" , Live Nation allegedly had his name wiped from it. Tommy feels Live Nation destroyed his reputation and blackballed him. Tommy lost his deal, contracts and ultimately his career— he even went homeless.
He goes to trial soon against Live Nation after waiting 15 years. They've been delaying the case for years and Tommy is worried his witnesses are getting old. They had power for that long to get this case pushed back over and over but there's blood in the water and maybe that power has diminished. I wish him the best of luck.
He has 1 attorney vs 2000 attorneys & 2000 paralegals. Oral arguments begin November 18th 2026. He's hoping to get a trial date soon. The public should put pressure on them. 15 Years on the docket is A LONG TIME! This is the OLDEST CASE AGAINST LIVE NATION IN THEIR HISTORY.

@mintjewpod I recommend a bandanna, as the deserts winds kick up in the evening. Helps shield from the dust. Slight rain on Saturday.

@kozerafilip @credealjunkie This push to extend liquor sales from 2AM to 4AM has been trying to get passed for over 26 years and fails every time. Yet underground parties where people drink all night already exist. Legalize it, regulate it. Until then, this isn’t going anywhere, it’ll stay underground.

Six months ago I wrote a guide for European founders moving to SF. One of the lines was about bars closing at 2am and how weird that felt coming from Europe.
California is now voting on extending last call to 4am in designated hospitality zones (could start June 1). If you've ever tried to have a proper night out here and hit that 2am wall while your body's still on European dinner time, you know this matters.
But the 4am thing is one signal of something much bigger. San Francisco is going through a vibe shift and I can feel it walking to the office every morning.
New restaurants are opening everywhere, and I mean packed-on-a-Tuesday-in-the-Marina everywhere. The food scene got genuinely interesting (not only about burritos). There are more events than my calendar can absorb: tech meetups, sure, but also art shows, outdoor concerts, strange popup things that feel more Berlin than California. People dig communal holes (google it) on Ocean Beach. There are outdoor raves next to the Golden Gate Bridge. Someone figured out there's a cave at ... (Redacted 😂 ) with acoustics good enough to throw a party in, and now that's a regular thing. illegal nature raves > clubs and there used to be maybe one a month. Now there are three a weekend.
I know this sounds superficial but the people on the streets look different too. More young people, more energy, more... attractive? I don't know how else to put it. The demographic shifted. It feels like the city went through a filter.
The weather's been absurdly good, which helps, but weather alone doesn't fill restaurants on weeknights or pack sidewalks with people who clearly just moved here.
I think what happened is pretty simple. A bunch of people left during 2020-2022 and now a new wave came in. Younger, more energetic, here because they chose to be (not because their company relocated them in 2015). The AI boom pulled in a specific type of person who actually wants to live in a city, not commute through one. And these people brought their energy with them: the raves, the beach culture, the "why would I leave on a Friday at 2am" attitude that Europeans have had forever.
My SF guide ended with: "Build something great while slowly losing your European soul, or join us in trying to keep it."
The city's making that easier than ever.
