@Andy2sn Honestly it baffles me too, also why back in the February beta they lied and said it was a bug they were aware of, that irks me too.

Updated iOS 26.4 with the beta off and still have the age restriction bug here in the UK anyone else seeing the age restriction

@_4nt7 My daughter’s boyfriend updated to iOS 26.4 and used his driving license and it worked

@Chrisfrom3TFM Don’t know why we Carnt use are debit card when like you go online to get a phone contract and we use are debit card they take like 1p for proof

@Andy2sn Update: I've been on with Apple live chat this afternoon and got a callback from someone higher up, it's a new UK Law that's taken effect, you need a credit card, debit won't work to verify, so looks like it's the government to blame and not Apple.

Everyone blaming government but i can understand they wanna protect our children. But if use parents gets our children a new iPhone then it’s the parents job to set it all up but them as a child. When we get a new iPhone we put us as a adult so don’t know why we should prove where 18

@_4nt7 Iv tried a debit card doesn’t work and iv no photo ID was gonna get a passport till they gonna go up over £100

@Andy2sn Well they recon when I called they said it should still work with a debit card and doesn’t have to be credit card and also who has ID cards these days ? I have passport

@Andy2sn I have a iPhone 16E one of the best iPhones I’ve ever had, it’s got great battery life and is a nice phone too, performs very well too

@verge Was told it’s a bug and Apple fixing it and many people in the UK trying with there credit card or driving licence and not working and what about those people that hasn’t got credit cards or photo ID

Apple is doing this because of the Online "Safety" Act A lot of people complaining now actually supported that law before - or at least did nothing to oppose it It’s the same with calls for a “social media ban” - people think they support it now, but may not like what happens if it actually comes to pass

If you update your iPhone, Apple will require you to send them a copy of your ID or credit card. This is the latest fresh hell as a result of the Labour and Conservative Online ‘Censorship’ bill. The phone will automatically block ‘adult’ material or websites until you submit.
