Former Armed Forces minister Al Carns has refused to rule out a leadership bid in an exclusive interview with Channel 4 News. Carns resigned from his ministerial role earlier this month over defence spending and had been rumoured to be considering running against Andy Burnham in any contest. The Labour MP for Birmingham Selly Oak praised Burnham during the interview for his Makerfield byelection victory but said he now wanted to see "solid, productive, courageous and bold" policies put forward.
