@Jxwhannes Well, indigenous people aren’t doing it on an industrial scale and making the conditions of the animals awful (which is what my objection is, not the consumption itself). Indigenous people often consume meat in a very ethical way.

@poco7o It’s not mental gymnastics, you are just too simple minded to see it as any more complex than the binary black and white you think it is.

@Aprilfzws Why do yall perform mental gymnastics around this? bro you’re eating an animal that was murdered and force bred 😭😭 And I’m eating it to. We can’t call that “love” maybe you think it’s cute but you don’t “love” it . It’s like infatuation at the point

@poco7o The evil part is the industrialization and the awful conditions in which they are kept. And the waste. I could sit here and critique at the industry all day, but consuming meat in and of itself is not immoral

@poco7o -Or even a vegan for that matter. Also, indigenous people all over the world consume meat, and I would say they show more love and respect for animals than anyone. Certainly more than vegans.

@poco7o That is the most city person bullshit I’ve ever heard. People who raise cows from birth, love them, and feed them and care for them and then eat them don’t love the animals less. I would say they love them more than a random person buying meat at the grocery store.

@larpingtons Indigenous cultures all around the world consume meat, and I would say they love and respect animals more than anyone. As do many farmers and people who live in rural areas. It’s always come off to me as a very city-person thing to say to say something like that

@larpingtons Those are the feelings that I recognize, and actively say “is that based in reality or is that a personal bias?”, and then I go from there. Personal preference in individuals eating habits and feelings around certain food seems fine to me, I don’t see the issue here

@larpingtons I logically can recognize that there is no difference in the morality between eating cats and dogs versus eating cows and pigs. I don’t base my morality and belief system around those instictual feelings that I know are remnants of just existing in our society.

@CringePosted @ZombieBlaster9 @HollowPoint_USA @Jheauxx -, they won it, and most of the societal understanding shifted after that. People saw that the world didn’t end when gay people got equal rights to marriage. I’m just saying, I think you’re severely underestimating the amount of non-vegans and avid meat eaters who are -

@CringePosted @ZombieBlaster9 @HollowPoint_USA @Jheauxx I think if you’re gonna wait around for everyone to get on board with you on that part, you’re just blocking yourself from getting where you want to be. Sometimes you have to trust that that will come later and in much more complex ways. It’s not some binary switch.

@CringePosted @ZombieBlaster9 @HollowPoint_USA @Jheauxx An ultimately to me, it doesn’t really matter in terms of the goals here because what matters more I feel like is outcomes. Measurable outcomes and changes, not abstract societal ideas and mores shifting. Like I said, I think that will come in time.
