@Jthebettor @storm_pig @MikeVivian @Novig It benefits NoVig because it protects the arbers that provide enough liquidity so NoVig can even exist. They don’t care about regular bettors. They take none of the responsibility of their markets yet protect the arbers over other users.

The only entity that wins when something like this gets voided on both sides is the book. The winning side doesn’t win and obviously the losing side doesn’t either. They still don’t win the bet. Overall, bettors don’t benefit from this. If your bet lost you just took the wrong side which no one is arguing to be free rolled here.

Meanwhile 50 state AGs beg DOJ to do something about offshore gambling sites. Only half of U.S. adults have access to legal online sports betting & only a handful of states have legal iGaming.

@bigboll0205 @fairplaygov Cease and Desists exist for these books. Bovada has shut down in multiple states. Both Novig and ProphetX have been giving C&D’s even. Fliff, ReBet, etc all have as well.

A lot of doom and gloom happening in the gambling world. The bill is awful, and it doesn’t make any sense. But as professional gamblers, our job is to figure out how to make the system work for us. Contact your representative to see if the bill can be altered. Contact accountants to figure out tax plans. Do whatever else you have to in order to come out on top. But don’t lose hope, and don’t give up.

Is there a possibility of this being challenged in court as unrealized gains tax on individual investors or something similar? One could argue (maybe, idk) that books like Kalshi or DFS are investments. Especially at the level of basic professional gamblers profits. I could be way off base. But maybe it can be fought in court.

@TRC_Slim @a_kane47 You seriously unable to realize how this affects a professional (winning) gambler? If someone wagers 100k under this bill and wins only 10k, they’d only be able to deduct 80k of the actual 90k losses, and therefore be on the hook for 20k. 10k of which they literally never made.
