Let's be clear, to all who think wearing the uniform at an early point in one's life inoculates them from doing bad and sometimes illegal acts later in life.
It does not.
This dude ⬇️ served our nation valiantly and with honor.
Until he didn't.
He was a strong supporter of American Independence for most of the war.
He won key battles of the Revolution.
Some historians consider him one of Washington's favorite and most trusted Generals.
They were even friends.
He signed a loyalty oath to the U.S. on May 30, 1778.
None of his earlier work fighting for the American cause meant a thing once he decided (mostly resulting from personal grievances) to betray his friends, his commander, and his country.
It meant nothing.
Early loyalties and heroics ultimately did not make him a good guy.
