Perseverance has long been a defining characteristic of Arkansas Tech University and its people. As of Wednesday, March 18, a visible and lasting testament to that quality — one made of brick, steel, glass and 12 years of dreams — is now open in the center of campus. Ferguson Student Union was celebrated by ATU students, faculty, staff, alumni and supporters during a dedication and grand opening on Wednesday. It was the culmination of a process that began in 2014, survived a global pandemic and became a 69,990-square foot facility that will be the focal point of campus life at Arkansas Tech for generations to come. Arkansas Tech University hosted more than 1,400 students representing more than 90 school districts for Future Farmers of America career development events and competitions on Thursday, March 12. Students competed in evaluation contests related to agriculture mechanics, agronomy, electricity, farm and agribusiness management, floriculture, forestry, horses, land, livestock, milk quality and products, nursery and landscape, poultry, veterinary science and wildlife management.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for the region that includes the Arkansas Tech University campus in Russellville. The current track of the storm will take it through northern Yell County, southern Pope County and to the region to the east. Anyone in this area should take precautions and tune in to trusted sources of weather information until the storm has passed.

Arkansas Tech University is developing a new experiential outdoor learning and research opportunity in rural Marion County. ATU students in programs such as agriculture, fisheries and wildlife science, geography, history and tourism will have the opportunity to gain hands-on learning at Crooked Creek Ranch, which consists of more than 500 acres near Yellville.
