Caught up with some of the new arrivals in the Kent Thameside area today. Northfleet received 4020 from Colchester today, it’s seen about to go out onto 480s this afternoon. Go Ahead also had some Irizar IE Trams on the A today, quirky vehicles but the air con was lovely!

Last Sunday saw a return to Rail Replacement for Arriva Tunbridge Wells, with the fleet stretching out into Sussex. 2955 was used as a standby at Polegate, with 4190 at Haywards Heath and 4218 at Lewes. We managed runs to Brighton, Seaford, Plumpton and Lewes, first of many jobs!

Took a nice late night trip on the Island Line to Ryde, then along to Newport and sampled the impressive Nightbus network with the N3 to Ryde. The Sunday saw a morning trip to the Needles on the 7, followed by finishing in Ryde, ticking off a new 73 plate MMC on the 9.

Had an enjoyable weekend recently exploring the Isle of Wight, before the summer season kicks off there. Travelled over on the impressive Hovercraft service to Ryde, before heading down to Sandown for the afternoon followed by Newport, then ticked off the 6 to Ventnor.

Explored some of the airport, managed to tick off the monorail too. Travelled back to the city on the 97A, with a bonus bus swap offering a brief look into NX’s Central depot, a massive site! Finished the day with a trip on the tram network out to the Jewellery Quarter & back.

Had an enjoyable day exploring the network in Birmingham on Sunday. Travelled up with Avanti West Coast, first ticking off Arriva’s operation into Birmingham, with the 110 out to Tamworth & back, ticking off both an Enviro 300 & 400. Then travelled out to the Airport on the X1.

@GarethDennis Southeastern, Southern and Thameslink all are very good at integration with local bus companies and getting ticket acceptance sorted when it goes to pot!

Really good to see this integration between bus and rail, even if it's not ideal things have fallen over... Any other examples of this in the UK?

Finished off the year with a loan of 5467 at work and the first Harlow Solo coming down. Had an enjoyable few day trips, finally ticking off the Waterloo & City Line and finishing with an amazing day in York & Leeds, ticking off a variety of trains & buses.

November saw a farewell to Arriva’s time on the Fastrack network, with Go Ahead taking over, with the last service in the early hours of the 10th. Had 1518 for a nice escape to Maidstone, along with a good day trip to Birmingham and a lovely weekend in London.

2024 saw quite a big, busy year for travelling. Made a trek to Leicester in January to tick off some of the classic DAF DB250s still going there, along with February seeing a nice weekend in London and exploring First West of England’s network, with its variety of buses & routes.
