Congratulations and well done to all our Cross country team on their fantastic effort on Wednesday; to Harry and Finlay on both finishing 3rd in their races and getting awarded medals; and all the children who qualified for the next round!

6 Birch have been practising their mummification skills - using Natron (salt) and spices to preserve our 'bodies' (oranges!) We won't be leaving them 70 days like the Egyptians but will check in with them in a few weeks.

6 Birch have been classifying flowering plants, using observable features to organise plants we found in our school grounds and follow in the footsteps of carl Linnaeus - the father of modern taxonomy.

6Gardenia have enjoyed gathering some flowers in order to record their observable characteristics.

Y3 had a fantastic morning hearing about the history of Crowborough and the role of the Crowborough Town Mayor. The children loved it and learnt lots! For more photos please check out the class webpages where there will be photos of the children trying on the chain!

In PSHE, year 6 have been 'freeze framing' the outcomes of dares. We looked at the positives and negatives of daring/challenging someone and 'exit strategies' to help us if we feel pressure to do something that we are uncomfortable doing.

6 Birch were not put off by the hot weather on Tuesday and worked really hard to complete an entire art project - researching cultural patterns and themes of the Rio carnival, designing an animal head dress and then constructing using chicken wire and papier mâché.

Well done to our Y4 Tri Golf and Y6 Quadkids teams on representing North Wealden in the Sussex competitions at the K2 in Crawley. Special mention to Hanna who came 1st overall in the whole of Sussex!

Y6 have enjoyed coming to together to learn about the Haka and other tribal dances in their PE lesson. They showed outstanding communication- and some children terrific leadership- and applied knowledge of the historical context in which these dances were formed with enthusiasm.
