Eating meat is wrong because in current society sentient beings are tortured and killed to do it, at unbelievable scale. Just because two things involve exploitation doesn’t mean that they are equally bad, something can involve disproportionately more suffering, death and exploitation for a given amount of product than another. This is the case for meat, which involves the torture and killing of tens of billions of sentient beings a year. For as bad as other industries are, they likely pale in comparison.

What makes eating meat immoral in this current society is the fact that it's done under intense exploitation. But by that logic, eating at all is immoral considering our food is harvested and made by slaves. Our water? Just look up Nestle.

@AshleyR404 @SOPHONTSIMP Also, being accused of not being smart enough for not being indoctrinated is a new one. You don't know the first thing about me. I have severe allergies to a bunch of plant-based foods. Believe it not, not everyone has the same dietary needs.

@AshleyR404 @SOPHONTSIMP I live off renewables for that reason, I am not naive like vegans. If lab grown meat ever becomes commercially available, I will happily switch to that and the debate is over, but if there is no earth left, we wont even get to see that future.

@E_MartinGoodman @SOPHONTSIMP I see now you're simply not smart enough to convince of anything. I have no qualms with lab grown meat or vertical farms. Ideally we could generically engineer roots to siphon energy from electricity using the DNA of the microbes that do such in the earth's crust.

Veganism is something you have to put effort in and can't be performative about on twitter. Many online leftists want change, but don't want to set aside their comfortable life to be the change.

@E_MartinGoodman @SOPHONTSIMP Even on renewables you likely create undue suffering because, as you say, life is suffering and the suffering is inescapable. The question is do you wish to minimize it when possible and practicable or do you not care about the consequences of your actions.

@AshleyR404 @SOPHONTSIMP I don't draw an arbitrary line in the evolutionary chain and say, well, you are kin to me by X number of branches in the tree of life so I won't consume you. And unless you live on renewables you are causing undue suffering also. You can't escape the suffering, life is suffering.

It's safe to say there is something that compels them to do that at all costs wouldn't you say? Vegans eat plants on the copium that they don't suffer like we do.

Animals eat other animals, boohoo, cry about it. What’s wrong is subjecting conscious beings to LIVING torture, for their whole miserable existences.

Im so confused what do non vegan leftists think dismantling capitalism without veganism will do for animals? The amount of meat america eats is so absurd that it requires factory farming in any case. Vegans have an alternative, to not eat animals, you have no alternative.
