In an interview, Ao Kojima, the mangaka of Hon nara Uru hodo, spoke about Mitsuru Adachi. “When I was a child, we had Adachi-sensei’s works at home, up through around the time of Touch, so I read them often. His stories sometimes contained mature nuances, and there were parts that I couldn’t fully understand as an elementary school student. Even so, I tried to read them by stretching beyond my age. A big reason was that the works themselves were so easy to read.” “He didn’t rely on excessive dialogue. Instead, he conveyed things through scenery, facial expressions, and the flow of the panels. The page composition and direction were incredibly clean, and looking back now, they were remarkably skillful. It felt almost like watching a movie or a TV drama, allowing readers to naturally connect with the characters. Even as a child, I could enter that world effortlessly and without any sense of strain.”
