The Government needs to do more than just tell people to 'stay at home'. Many simply can't afford to All workers, except key workers, who can't work from home should automatically be furloughed on full pay. And statutory sick pay should be increased to real living wage levels.

Just asked by paper if UK will rejoin EU. My answer: "Not in my lifetime (I'm 40 this yr). The EU will integrate further in our absence as UK pivots to other markets. No UK "opt-outs" in future = harder sell than 2016. & while Millennials/Zoomers pro-EU, it's not a top concern".

@GoodwinMJ The fast approval of the vaccine was done under existing EU rules and open to any EU state. No Supermajority (66%) for a major change. No Simple Majority (50%) minimum in all 4 of England, Scotland, Wales and NI). So you & Tombs have shown no advantages to Brexit. None at all.

EU migrants who come to the UK from January 1 will be barred from claiming benefits for 5 years which is one very good reason why many of them will no longer want to move here

@daveo99 @GoodwinMJ The EU had no interest in how we treated immigrants from outside the EU. Spain has very special arrangements for immigrants from its former colonies such as the Philippines and Cuba. Easy entry and fast track to citizenship. BME voters were fooled by Leave.

@SofiaWillquist @FraserNelson So you report the excess numbers of deaths compared with the averages over the last 5 years? That is the most accurate, but not perfect.

@Avro @FraserNelson No. We report everyone who died WITH covid. Everyone. Even if they died 30 days after discharge from hospital in a car crash. In my region it is estimated that 15 % of deaths were not a consequence of Covid, but still reported as such. 100 % transparency in death numbers.
