Bangladesh strongly condemns the attack today on the Bangladeshi peacekeepers who were serving under the UN peacekeeping mission in Sudan. Six Bangladeshi peacekeepers have died and eight were injured when a drone attack was carried out on a United Nations base in Abyei, Sudan.

The Problem: Getting a passport in Bangladesh was slow, costly, and corrupt. Police verification alone accounted for 75.1% of all reported bribe cases, forcing applicants to pay extra and endure needless delays. Ordinary citizens suffered the stress and expense of a broken system. The Change: Police verification is no longer required for passports. This reform will: •Speed up passport delivery for migrants, students, and professionals •Eliminate unnecessary delays and reduce opportunities for corruption in the verification process Why This Matters: Citizens will now be able to obtain passports more quickly and without paying bribes. This makes it easier for Bangladeshis to travel for work, study, family visits, and leisure, while also strengthening public trust in the state.

During his maiden visit to Isle of Man the Assistant High Commissioner Mr. Mohammad Jobayed Hosen paid a courtesy call on the Lieutenant Governor of Isle of Man General Sir John Lorimer, KCB DSO MBE at the latter’s residence.

The AHC called on the Deputy Chief Minister of Isle of Man during his maiden visit there. During discussion, the AHC highlighted on the potentials of Bangladesh in trade and investment, along with the employment and wellbeing of the Bangladesh-heritage population in Isle of Man.

পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রামের একশ স্কুলে এবছরই ই-লার্নিং চালুর নির্দেশ প্রধান উপদেষ্টার ঢাকা, জুলাই ২, ২০২৫: সকল সংকট অতিদ্রুত নিরসন করে চলতি বছরের মধ্যেই পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রামের অন্তত একশ স্কুলে ই-লার্নিং চালুর নির্দেশ নিয়েছেন প্রধান উপদেষ্টা প্রফেসর মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস। আজ বুধবার রাষ্ট্রীয় অতিথি ভবন যমুনায় এক বৈঠকে এ নির্দেশ দেন তিনি। এ বৈঠকে পার্বত্য উপদেষ্টা সুপ্রদীপ চাকমা, মুক্তিযুদ্ধ বিষয়ক ও দুর্যোগ বিষয়ক উপদেষ্টা ফারুক ই আজম, খাদ্য ও ভূমি উপদেষ্টা আলী ইমাম মজুমদার, প্রধান উপদেষ্টার মুখ্য সচিব সিরাজ উদ্দিন মিয়া এবং প্রাথমিক ও মাধ্যমিক শিক্ষা বিভাগের কর্মকর্তারা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। কর্মকর্তারা জানান, পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রামের স্কুলগুলোতে ভার্চুয়াল পড়াশোনা চালুর ক্ষেত্রে তিন ধরনের চ্যালেঞ্জ রয়েছে। সেখানে দুর্গম এলাকায় বিদ্যুতের ঘাটতি রয়েছে, ইন্টারনেট সংযোগ নেই এবং এ ধরনের কার্যক্রম পরিচালনার জন্য ওই এলাকায় দক্ষ শিক্ষকের অভাব। এক্ষেত্রে সোলার প্যানেল ব্যবহার করে বিদ্যুতের ঘাটতি নিরসন এবং মোবাইল নেটওয়ার্ক ও স্টারলিংক পরিষেবা ব্যবহার করে সংকট মোকাবিলার পরামর্শ দিয়েছেন প্রধান উপদেষ্টা। এর পাশাপাশি দক্ষ শিক্ষকের ঘাটতি মোকাবিলায় স্কুলের তালিকা করে সেসব স্কুলে একটি নির্দিষ্ট মেয়াদে চুক্তিভিত্তিক শিক্ষক নিয়োগেরও পরামর্শ দেন তিনি। প্রধান উপদেষ্টা বলেন, ‘পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রামের দুর্বল এলাকায় শিক্ষার গুণগত মান নিশ্চিত করতে প্রথমে একশটি স্কুলের তালিকা তৈরি করতে হবে; যেখানে ইন্টারনেট বেসড স্কুল শুরুর ব্যবস্থা করতে হবে। কোন স্কুলে কীসের ঘাটতি- ইন্টারনেট সংযোগ, সরঞ্জাম ইত্যাদি কী কী লাগবে সব তালিকা করে যত দ্রুত সম্ভব কাজ শুরু করে দিতে হবে। চলতি বছরের মধ্যেই ক্লাস শুরু করতে হবে।’ ‘যেসব দক্ষ শিক্ষকরা শহরের বড় বড় শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানে পড়ায় তারাই অনলাইনে পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রামের ছেলেমেয়েদের গণিত, বিজ্ঞান ও ইংলিশ পড়াবে। তাহলে সেখানকার ছেলেমেয়েরাও আর পিছিয়ে থাকবে না। ভালো শিক্ষক ও পড়াশোনার সুযোগ-সুবিধা পেলে অনেক মেধাবী ছেলেমেয়েরা সেখান থেকে উঠে আসবে,’ বলেন তিনি। বৈঠকে পার্বত্য উপদেষ্টা তিন পার্বত্য উপজেলায় জীবন-জীবিকার মান উন্নত করা ও পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণের বিষয়ে প্রধান উপদেষ্টাকে অবহিত করেন। প্রধান উপদেষ্টা এ ব্যাপারে সংশ্লিষ্ট মন্ত্রণালয়গুলোর সঙ্গে সমন্বয় করে পরিকল্পনার নির্দেশ দেন।
