Don’t have the stats to back it up, but I believe Yojiro Uetake was never taken down and he finished his career at 58-0 and 3 national titles. I do not believe Freshman were eligible to compete then (1964-66).

A great accomplishment by Sergio! According to our media relations team… Takedown stats were not kept so hard to find the answer to this question without play-by-play data from every bout, which unfortunately, we don’t have. Sergio had an epic season & it’s good to be us 🤠

Agree with Larry. I’ve been to Lincoln and I have visited with their fans in Stilly. Very gracious in my opinion. Same with Kansas State.

Great NCAA wrestling tournament. Congratulations to Penn State. They have a dynasty in place that’s amazing. I think the sport of wrestling is in great shape with all of the unbelievable Freshmen out there.

My question is why do them right off of the mat. Wait. Let them catch their breath and celebrate with family and teammates. Then catch them and get an interview.

I know Quint Kessenich gets a lot of criticism every year at the NCAA tournament. I get it. But in his defense, I do a lot of post-match interviews for high school wrestling in Oklahoma. It's a little trickier than people realize.

I’ve admitting it numerous times that it was a blown call to call the TD early. The overturn was not a blown call.

@BCRPoppy But that was the blown call. Calling it early. Let him wrestle through the position, if Landon fights out of the cradle lets PSU challenge if it was a takedown.

I like this idea. And if it’s still tied, go another 2 mins. I have never liked the 30 second ride out periods in OT.

@BCRPoppy Solution: remove SV and let them wrestle the entire 2 minutes in OT. You would not then get an early stoppage by a ref for something like this.

Openly admitted that. But I’m a bigger wrestling fan than anything. I want what’s best for the wrestlers. IMO they got the call right. And I promise you I would say the same thing if the shoe were on the other foot. There have been numerous times I have disagreed with Poke Fans on what they thought was a bad call. In the end, it’s over and done. Nothing is going to change no matter what any of us think.

I corrected myself. The problem error was not a blown call. Calling the TD too early soon was.

I doubt cameras would be able to get close enough and a clear shot and the shoulder blades on the down opponent. If I had my way, they would do away with challenges in every sport. Human error happens. Maybe I am naive, but I do not believe officials overall are biased. They try to call a fair match/game. Reviews are just delaying things in all sports.

You are correct. I admitted I should have reworded it to say the overturn was not a blown call. Calling the TD too early was.

@BCRPoppy Wait - so he called it too early and blew the whistle which means - blown call. It’s no different than an inadvertent whistle in football - blowing the whistle too soon anticipating something. That too, is a blown call. What’s done is done. But to call it not a blown call is 🤷♂️
