Clippers have the #9 spot going into the play-in. LAC has to beat the Warriors in LA AND either the Suns or Blazers on the road to make the playoffs. If the Clippers do not win both play-in games, OKC will get a lottery pick.

I wish we could get to a conversational place where we can be middle. The DeRozan thing is a good example. DDR is WIDELY known as one of the best PEOPLE in the league, teammates love him. The dude's an automatic bucket for 15 years, has been in a bunch of big playoff games, is one of the best mid-range players of this era. The impact stuff is legit. That's a valid criticism. But also, as much as I value winning, it's not EVERYTHING. Longevity X Consistency matters and it matters a HELL of a lot more to the players than we give it credit for. And I'm the guy who called him Costo Kobe!

@HPbasketball That’s fair. And I agree with this assessment mostly. I’m just saying the people over inflating are responding to people exaggerating how good they’d be without him. It’s definitely a middle ground.

The Thunder are between a 45-and-50-win team without Shai and are a 60-win juggernaut with him. They would not be lost without him and they are not a juggernaut without him. I just won't ever accept the idea he's one of the most impactful guys because that's not how he plays. It's how GOOD he is, but it's not HOW he plays. That distinction feels minor, but it's really important in context.

@HPbasketball I think it’s just the reflex response to people trying to downplay how important he is and as you’ve stated before the defense would still win a lot of games but the offense is much worse without him. Both sides are exaggerating

There's just no evidence for this. They are 9-4 without him. +5.4 net rating without him. I just voted Shai MVP in the Locked On season awards poll, voted Shai in the strawpoll last week. Nuggets went 10-6 without Joker in January, Spurs are 14-5 without Victor. I don't think Podz gets them to 50's but high. 40's? Probably. People want to defend their guy so badly they start to warp reality and we should avoid that. Just stick to the facts.
