It is rare for nitroaromatics to show fluorescence. One of our older #ChemSciPicks looked at making these compounds fluoresce by n-type conjugates which suppress emission-quenching effects of the electron-withdrawing nitro group. #FluorescenceFriday pubs.rsc.org/doi/D1SC03670J
