Besa Gordon (@besagordon) joined @fox13seattle's Good Day Seattle this week for a meaningful conversation with Erin Mayovsky (@ErinMayovsky) about the heart behind @Back2Besa and why telling our own stories continues to matter. During the segment, Gordon reflected on launching the show in 2023 with a clear mission: to tell stories that make Black communities across the Pacific Northwest feel seen, valued, and celebrated. Now entering 2026, #Back2Besa has grown beyond Seattle, highlighting people, businesses, and organizations in Portland, Spokane, Anchorage, and communities throughout the region. Gordon shared that expanding the show’s reach has always been intentional, ensuring representation isn’t limited by geography and that viewers across the Northwest can see themselves reflected on screen. When asked how she stays motivated, Gordon spoke about the responsibility of visibility and the importance of creating pathways for the next generation. For her, Back2Besa is not just a television show, but a commitment to uplifting Black joy, honoring community leadership, and showing young people what’s possible when their stories are told with care and authenticity. Back2Besa airs Saturdays at 10:30 PM on FOX 13 Seattle, Sundays at 10 AM on FOX 13+, and again Sundays at 8 PM on FOX 13+.

For today's #FeelGoodFriday vibe, we are uplifting @SeattleKraken Photo Editor Liv Lyons (@_LivLyons) who is an example of chasing dreams and breaking down barriers. Lyons has been creating space for Black women in the industry after she began shooting Mariners games at @TMobilePark with @CirclingSports in 2022. Thanks to her work, drive, and dedication, Lyons was approached by MLB to be one of their photographers for All-Star Week 2023, as well as the @seattlestorm who hired her as a team photographer for the 2023 season. Thanks to those opportunities, she caught the eye of the Seattle Kraken, who hired her as their photo editor as her career continues to skyrocket. “All I want to do is make sure that folks who are seeing my pictures feel like they’re right there,” Lyons said. “They feel the rush of the ice, they’re right next to the action, and I try to amplify those elements.” Lyons has had the opportunity to shoot a variety of sports, including Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, and more. Among all the options, hockey still stands out. “Photographing hockey is like no other sport that I’ve had the privilege to cover,” Lyons said.  “Whether I’m down by the Ice or up here on the concourses the action is absolutely palpable.” Lyons has also been able to find community through her photography. Thanks to organizations like Black Women Photographers, Lyons has connected both with those she aspires to be like and those looking to follow in her footsteps. One such connection was Amanda J. Cain, the first Black woman to be an official NHL team photographer. “We still talk all the time. She’s been a wealth of resources and a mentor for me,” Lyons said. “It’s a great thing for folks to see themselves and see people they identify with in these roles. I think the Seattle Kraken do a really good job of authentically representing different folks and different groups.” This segment aired nationally on Back2Besa on @foxsoultv last Saturday. See new episodes of @Back2Besa on #FOXSoul Saturdays at 4pm PST and 7pm EST.

I have been to far too many vigils in my life most of them here in the Central District. What I witnessed tonight on the same football field I played on years ago was so emotional. So many young people fighting back tears. This is not normal we cannot continue to live like this.

"I am completely saddened and still in complete shock at the tragic events that have taken place. Amarr was a member at Grace Temple and loved his church family! It was such an honor and joy to be his Pastor and Coach! He gave his life to the Lord and was a proven leader on and off the field! He will be deeply missed and please keep Arron Murphy-Paine and La Kisha Murphy-Paine and the entire family uplifted in prayer! We love you Amarr! 🙏🏽💯🙏🏽" - Dr. James E. Sears III

Our youth are becoming numb to this kind of trauma. There is no reason they shouldn’t be able be to call school a safe place. I know I did growing up. It saddens me to see so many teens in disbelief of what continues to happen in their schools and communities. Our youth deserve so much better. #CentralDistrict

Seattle's vibrant art scene was on full display at the recent 8th edition of the Still in Our Feels showcase, held at AXIS Pioneer Square. As I stepped into the event, I was immediately immersed in a sea of creativity, surrounded by local artists, performers, and enthusiasts alike. This eighth edition of The Still In Our Feels Showcase brought together diverse talent from across the greater Seattle area, offering a platform for emerging and established artists to showcase their work. The event, which featured 15 showcasing artists and five featured artists, celebrated Women's History Month by highlighting the contributions of female creators. Against the backdrop of pulsating beats and the aroma of delectable food, attendees were treated to a visual feast of artwork spanning various mediums. Reflecting on the significance of The Still In Our Feels showcase, organizers emphasized their commitment to fostering community and supporting local talent. This dedication was particularly evident in their efforts to engage youth through art education programs like Art Together and workshops. By providing opportunities for young artists to explore their creativity and express themselves, The Fields Foundation is not just hosting an event each year, but nurturing the next generation of artistic visionaries. For many artists, The Still In Our Feels showcase was not just an opportunity to exhibit their work but also a chance to connect with like-minded individuals and share their passion for creativity. In a world where artists often work in isolation, events like this are a reminder of the importance of community and collective support. To stay updated on future events and discover more about The Feels Foundation, visit their website at thefieldsfoundation.org. This segment was first aired on Back2Besa on @fox13seattle. Happy #WorldRadioDay to my radio fam 🥹 it’s wild to think I’ve been doing this 5 years now. Buuuttttt here we are 🤎 I remember growing up listening to the radio and imagining that voice I heard talking back was mine. Sometimes I still pinch myself, but truly I’m thankful to have a job that allows me to make a living by just being me. #WorldRadioDay2024 💨💨💨💨💨
