Not saying this as a Marathi. But factually, Marathi women are more free and independent than most other states. Their participation in public life, jobs, responsibilities, decision making is extremely high. That have a large impact on life in Maharashtra both past and present.

Recently i travelled to Bangalore and Kolkata within short intervals. Both time I noticed airport full of Muslim families. The men wearing western fashionable clothes. The women wearing full face covering burqas. There's something inherently disturbing and violent about this. No amount of consent argument can normalise the inherent abnormalities in this. Why should women do something men are not required to do.

What you call ‘feminism’ Sanjukta, is just bigotry dressed up as liberation. Muslim women are not passive bodies waiting to be rescued.
