The Baltimore City Fire Department is asking residents to help keep our neighborhoods safe. If you notice illegal activity inside a vacant property, please report it by calling 311. Vacant buildings can create dangerous conditions that impact both the community and emergency responders. Your report can help prevent fires, crime, and other hazards before they happen.

Students at Mount Saint Joseph High School witnessed a powerful mock crash demonstration as members of the Baltimore City Fire Department responded to a simulated serious motor vehicle collision. Firefighters and EMS personnel showed students the real-life rescue operations that take place after a crash, including vehicle stabilization and patient extrication. The demonstration highlighted how distracted or reckless driving can lead to devastating consequences in just seconds. BCFD encourages all drivers to stay focused, drive responsibly, and always make safety the priority behind the wheel.

Winter Reminder from Baltimore City Fire Department! Keep your space heaters safe by giving them space. Maintain a 3-foot radius from anything that can catch fire. Plug directly into outlets, supervise use, and inspect regularly for safety. Your safety matters!

When approaching an active fire scene, remember that it is an active work zone with firefighters operating in and around the roadway. Slow down, stay alert, and follow all traffic directions from the Baltimore Police Department to help keep everyone safe. Never drive over a charged fire hose — doing so can damage critical equipment, disrupt water supply, and put firefighters at serious risk. Your patience and cooperation protect first responders and your fellow residents

Cold weather can lead to dangerous heating choices. Never use ovens or grills to heat your home, as they can quickly cause fires or deadly carbon monoxide buildup. If using a generator during a power outage, always operate it outdoors and away from windows and doors. Stay safe this winter and make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are working properly. #WinterSafety #FirePrevention #BCFD
