@AgathaThule My mother used to tell me about doing this at her school, that was in the late 50's. I think it was pretty rare even then but you don't see people outwardly partaking in Anglo traditions today.

So when did this get abandoned as a regular tradition in anglo countries? I did even know this was a thing outside british isles. Seems like a pretty important and cultural thing for a people to do. Ill bet theres a stack of folk traditions abandoned beginning 20th century.
