@sketching204 I feel like they ruined Yakko in the reboot. He used to be the most attentive to his siblings, protective, intelligent, and caring. But now he just doesn't feel the same

@Starbreakersohi @sketching204 Also the "cartoon in a world where their actors" is very much a factor, but I think Buttons being essentially a normal dog for all intents and purposes would still make it feel mean spirited.
Similarly to how even if it's staged, seeing an animal getting berated is frowned upon

@Battybuddy @sketching204 That's kinda my gripe with it, the payoff is always too unlikeably mean for me. It's as formulaic as Chicken Boo, but worse, because it's a dog trying to save an annoying toddler from dying, and his hard work is always rewarded with "bad dog!" I just don't find humor in it

Like just cause he's a dog doesn't mean he's chasing a cat.
