Healing is often much harder than finding love because it requires looking inward at the things we built to protect ourselves. When we are hurt, our brains develop defense mechanisms to ensure it never happens again. While those guards kept us safe in the past, they often act as barriers to intimacy in a healthy, new relationship. Unlearning them is a brave, slow process.

The way some people treat cleaners, security guards, drivers, and office assistants tells you more about their character than how they treat their bosses. Respect shouldn't be reserved for people who can benefit you.
