@RogersHistory At uni, one of my lecturers said that it isn’t a bad lesson until somebody 💀; you’ll have taught someone something, even if it is just you that learns not to do that style of lesson again. It’s been helpful to remember this at times and I share with trainees/ECTs often.

Sent this to some ECTs. Things that have always helped me: Recognising that teaching is like riding a bike - you think you’ve forgotten how to do it, you anticipate a disaster, then after a few days it’s like you’ve never been away. The kids forget good and bad lessons way quicker than you do. In fact, those ‘disaster lessons’ I had that I perceived to be career ending, the kids were already laughing and joking with each other in the corridor completely oblivious to anything I was stressing about. They forget - very fast. YOU are the best resource - haven’t got a glitzy curriculum plan or a tonne of spectacular original resources? You’ve got the best one - you!

I can count to at least 40 times when dog owners have said their dog is fine and friendly as it runs up to my child and takes a little nip at them. That’s why I never want them running loose when children are about. Irrespective of their breed. Some people are petrified.

@lisavicparry @FlyingTigerUK I’m with you. At first glance I thought it was just an interesting, colourful pattern but seeing it is the braille alphabet and labelled as such, who is it actually benefiting?

The downside of homeownership: today I have scrubbed all of my carpets, cleaned and mopped the hardwood floors, done a dishwasher load and hand washed things that aren’t dishwasher safe…. Loved every second, though!
