Reclaiming space previously devoted to cars and giving it to people and nature has created a stronger community. “The interaction of people, that positive environment, instantly pulls you in and integrates you into the city.” #CitiesForPeople wri.org/blog/2019/03/u…

Poll shows overwhelming concern for road safety and support for lanes ift.tt/2GFg8Tc #biketo #toronto

@DaveInOrleans 1. no one pays attention to laws
2. the police have no interest in enforcement
Even if those two things weren't true, it would still take forever.

Don't hold your breath waiting for drivers to follow the rules of the road. It won't happen.
Solve the street safety crisis by banning cars from certain streets, or having truly physically separate bike lanes.

@VisionZeroCA @BikingToronto Meanwhile for cyclists, we have existing rules of the road which are a lot more favorable than @ONtransport's website tells us. What is needed is for all motorists to respect them vehicularcyclist.com/ontariolaw.html

@BikingToronto @BikeShareTO I wasn't implying you don't know how to read. I was implying that they're full of shit.

You know, I really *LOVE* being lied to @bikeshareto.
You just announced plans for e-bikes. Jesus.

@BikingToronto Hi there 👋 Thanks for reaching out! At this time, we do not have a plan to add e-bikes to the fleet. Happy cycling!

@graemewa That's not my solution. My solution is to FORCE behaviour change. No one is going to volunteer.

Fact. If I see proper safe separated bike lanes on TV or in a film, I *know* it isn't Toronto, because we're so behind other cities.
Jennifer Keesmaat@jen_keesmaat
Funny; when creating our Complete Streets Guidelines some folks in the film office argued bike lanes on our streets make it less generic + therefore undesirable for film shoots. I argued they make our city *more like* other global cities and therefore an even better stand in!
English

@bbbriandonnelly @BikeShareTO Yeah, I know how to read.
If you scroll down, you'll also see that there ARE plans to add them in 2020 ("The plan also calls for the addition of 300 e-bikes to the system this year.") They didn't just come up with this during the last month.
English

@BikingToronto @BikeShareTO The first sentence of that article says ebikes MAY be joining the fleet. It's a classic bureaucratic word. Sounds positive, means nothing.
English

@DGConroy @BikeShareTO It's really REALLY easy to say "we're thinking about it", David.
English

@BikingToronto @BikeShareTO You don't think they were keeping a lid on the plans until formally announced?
