In the past few days, I managed to make cascaded OSERDES working with #OpenXC7 #FPGA.
This means 720p HDMI (742.5 Mbps data rate) can work with the open-source toolchain!
You see the bad and good waveforms -- I tricked the MMCM to generate low frequencies to see them on scope.

Twitter's like a school, there're people graduating and new people coming, but I'll be here having unchanged FPGA contents! Patch merged to nextpnr-xilinx for HDMI support! Somehow, IN_TERM.NONE and IN_ONLY words are required for *output* TMDS_33 I/Os.

Just wrapped up our Worst in Show awards at CES and... wow. Every year I think we've hit peak absurdity. Every year I'm wrong. Here's the most hostile-to-humans tech on display in Vegas: I presented the Repairability award to Samsung's "Family Hub" smart fridge. It has voice-controlled doors. A giant touchscreen. Sounds nifty? Well it could be, if Samsung's track record of actually supporting their software wasn't abysmal.
