CALLOUT 4/1/24 21:45 In our first callout of the year, the team assisted Scottish Borders Police with the search for a missing person. The person was found by the police at 01:00 outwith our search area, and passed to the Ambulance Service. 19 team members attended.

A record number of brilliant and enthusiastic teams took part in the quiz (and raffle ) raising ✨£952 ✨for BSARU. Many thanks to all who made it such a fun and successful evening.

A massive thanks for the warm hospitality shown by the The Horse and Hound Country Inn last night and amazing support from locals, Marion Thomson (quiz maker) Paul Martin (quiz master) & Donna Thomson (quiz marker).

On #InternationalMountainDay, some of the team are reminiscing about our wonderful visits to Pieve di Cadore and the surrounding mountains for the Dolomiti Rescue Race We'd like to wish an early Buon Natale to all of our Italian friends!

Also on Saturday and Sunday, team members were selling Christmas raffle tickets. Many thanks to Mayfield Garden Centre for hosting us.

A busy weekend followed for us providing safety cover for the @MontaneOfficial Cheviot Goat Ultra on a glorious day along the Border Ridge. Participants passed our positions over several hours. Best wishes to those who needed some tlc on their way. Hope recoveries are going well

We'd like to say a big thanks to Jack at Borders Competitions for the donation of £500 to the team. He met up with a couple of team members on Thursday night in Duns. borderscompetitions.co.uk

On Monday evening, team members visited cubs from 1st Midlothian Scout Group in Gorebridge and showed them some of the team's kit and Land Rover. Maybe we found some young team members of the future! #cubs #scouts #volunteers

We'd like to thank Berwickshire Charity Truck Run for their donation to the team - a cheque for £3000. The presentation was held recently at the Borders General Hospital. BSARU was one of a number of charities assisted this year.

All of these voluntary hours have been put in alongside normal training, PPE inspections and continued work on the new base, Every team member is a volunteer and all funds raised through providing first aid and safety cover go into team funds.

Team members have been busy over the past couple of weeks with a range of training, tasks and events. Several attended the SMR Training Conference at Glenmore Lodge whilst others have been providing first aid & safety cover at the Devils Foot Half Marathon and Jed Ultra Marathon.

Last weekend, in calmer conditions, team members undertook bankside safety training at Banff Mill on the River Tweed with Water-rescue Vital skills for river searches and flood response were reviewed.
