Greens. They swing from great ideas to populism like this, that will only hurt low income renters. Guess what happens when you freeze rents? Fewer rental properties because landlords will not be able to afford mortgage repayments on their investment. They will offload the stock, which will be picked up by well off folk who can afford it. I’m no fan of the tax system that has built this house of cards but equally not a fan of sound grabs when tackling this problem.
