As a half-Venezuelan, I feel extremely excited about the news today: the dictator Nicolás Maduro is under arrest! But I can't help but think, what's going to happen next? 🇻🇪⚖️ Venezuela’s crisis isn’t about a single man. It’s a kleptocratic system built over decades: corrupt institutions, corrupted military force, narco-networks, external oil alliances with world power nations, and loyalists like Diosdado Cabello and Delcy Rodríguez holding the levers of power. If we don’t dismantle it, the hydra will grow new heads. If we want to restore Venezuela's democracy this is what needs to happen: 1. Declare Maduro’s absolute absence under Article 233 of the Constitution. 2. Empower a legitimate interim government from the opposition to purge corrupt officials. 3. Reform the CNE (National Electoral Council) to guarantee fair and transparent elections within 30 days. Ideally, with the assistance of international watchdogs and the use of blockchain to avoid corruption and ensure transparency. 4. Encourage military defections, freeze assets of loyalists, and isolate Cabello, Rodríguez, and other remnants. There's a risk of civil unrest, foreign meddling from Russia, China, Cuba, and Iran, and economic shocks as oil markets are already spiking. But this is a historic opportunity that Venezuela can't let pass. If a united opposition, perhaps led by María Corina Machado, finally dismantles the cartel-state that has strangled Venezuela for decades, this could be the start of the recovery process. ¡Fuerza Venezuela! 💛💙❤️
