Plus, I haven’t rewatched the show in a while, so I might genuinely be forgetting things, and I’m not trying to mindlessly hate. Just had a thought after the newest ep I didn’t put much stock in, and it got way more speculation than I expected lol

@ArtTheGaleWind @SongbirdDiamond We know their defining features, yes, but as far as their bonds with others, characters like Gangle, Zooble, and Ragatha feel weirdly under-explored with all the buildup they got, and it makes me feel like I still don’t know these guys as well as I should by this point

@AwestruckVox Tbh I’m totally fine with ambiguity and challenging viewers to think. I’m just kinda frustrated at how there are so many hints of nuance that could give depth to the cast’s relationships if explored but never are, which makes it feel almost like we’re missing out

I don’t think not having everything about the characters explicitly stated/spelled out for the audience equates to wasted potential. Leave things up to interpretation for the audience. I think it’s ok to keep things ambiguous about the circus gang prior to Pomni’s arrival. We need to champion challenging the viewer more with that stuff! Most of that isn’t really relevant to the story at hand imo. It reminds me a lot of Cowboy Bebop! There’s quite a bit of episodic adventures despite having a narrative through-line. We learn bits and pieces about the Bebop crew, but so much of their past remains a mystery when it’s all said and done. Doesn’t stop it from being an all-timer with a powerful ending, esp for those who caught it when it dropped!

@SongbirdDiamond I do enjoy the ride, but it’s hard for me to stay as thrilled when it feels like every big hill they come to gets passed through like a mirage. I don’t need everything, I just wanna actually explore a few more characters without leaving 90% of it to implication

@BraxtonJs I feel like people obsess too much over tiny details of shows like they need endless revelations and should just learn to enjoy the ride. Not every show needs to be LOST.

I think I just realized that the problem with Twitter vagueposting is everyone talks like they’re doing a letterboxd review, where you’re expected to know the film they’re talking about, so for every tweet now, you’re basically expected to have a film’s worth of knowledge already

It’s always been weird to me how people bring up the racist Wartime stuff with Seuss like a gotcha when… he acknowledged it and changed? And wrote whole books dedicated to his foreign friends about the importance of not slipping into these ideologies?

Was talking about movies with my dentist when she said she wanted to see Melania, which had me shocked, but then she followed it by saying she just thinks she’s so strong and beautiful, and I thought “Oh, okay, she just doesn’t have internet or any contact with the outside world”

It’s part of why ‘animation is cinema’ was ruined: because a bunch of insecure people who’re unwilling to engage with adult/foreign animation, let alone non-animated media, saw it as a smokescreen to cover up the fact they only watch kids’ shows

This is extremely true, and a major reason for why is ‘cause a lot of people will only watch animation not from a genuine love for it but because they’re unwilling to engage with films/shows outside the small bubble of taste they formed as kids

In my experience, YouTubers who only review animated movies struggle with complex, nuanced, or sensitive topics. That's reflected a *lot* in their coverage of Goat, where it feels like almost all of them missed (or struggle to talk about) the black culture it proudly displays.

He recently turned down a reported $3 million offer for a one-day cameo as Rick Dalton in the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood spin-off, The Adventures of Cliff Booth. He famously passed on franchise roles like Robin, Spider-Man, and Anakin Skywalker, choosing stand-alone films over long-running universes. DiCaprio has said he isn’t against sequels in principle — he just feels most of his characters have complete arcs. “Every movie I’ve done has been its piece of individual art.”

This doesn't mean you have to agree or disagree with the top reviewed movies. It just means you should try to understand why certain films are in the top 500 from a subjective, biased angle instead of treating it like someone's objective list. It's basically how polls work.
