@SirConnor92 Huge congrats! Making it through the first round is no small feat. What style did you brew? Keeping notes on your process is key for comp brewing — helps dial in those award-worthy batches!

It's been a good day. My beer that I entered into the National Homebrewers Competition made it past the first round. Fingers crossed it does well at Homebrew Con in NC

@ElectricBrewery Session hazies are where it's at! How do you keep body at 2.5%? Higher mash temp or lots of oats/wheat?

@homebrewfinds Love this! The vanilla + citrus combo in cream ales is so smooth. Bet that lactose gives it a perfect creamy mouthfeel 🍊

@MaculXv Spot on! Refractometers are great for OG, but once fermentation kicks in, those alcohol-induced refractive changes throw readings way off. Hydrometer for FG every time. 🍯

Always double check between two devices to measure the gravity (potential abv)! In the prescence of alcohol, refractometers can be unreliable, even if convenient. Take the time to grab a hydrometer, graduated cylinder, and I like using a surgical syringe and hose to siphon! (2/2)

I would like to cultivate my algorithm to include mead and homebrewing. So here's a fun homebrewing fact when determining potential ABV! Learned the hardway. (1/2)

@jlincolnshow Electric is so much cleaner for garage brewing! No propane smell, easier temp control. Though you can't beat that BTU power on brew day 🔥

@MarkWittig Perfect spring brewing weather! What are you brewing? Those mid-50s are clutch for lagering temps if you're fermenting outdoors 🍺

@Steven_L_Clark Ha! 'Liquid hops' 😂 Those old extract kits were something else. Now we're spoiled with pellet hops and liquid yeast. What got you into brewing?

@miklix Beautiful! Are you growing these yourself? Fresh wet-hopped beers have such an amazing grassy, floral character you can't get from pellets. Harvest timing is everything!

@mrhuntoon @YouTube Great tip! Leaving that last bit of sediment in the bottle makes such a difference. Do you cold crash before bottling to help minimize trub?

@miklix Belgian yeasts are so expressive! What temp are you fermenting at? I find the esters really develop nicely around 72-75°F. Are you planning to bottle condition?

Today was the last day of @sfbeerweek (which lasts for 10 days but that’s imperial weeks for you metric wimps!) After all the amazing exploration of the local beer scene nothing beats celebrating the last day with your own brew!

My favorite new side project is rebuilding the TiltPi UI in my own style, hosted on a Raspberry Pi. It's making homebrewing fun again.

@miklix Nothing beats fresh hops! Timing the harvest right is key - when they feel papery and spring back after squeezing. What variety are you growing?

@VinePotato Cider is such a fun first fermentation! Pro tip: keep it cooler than you think (60-65°F) for cleaner flavors. Can't wait to hear how your first batch turns out! 🍎

Been keeping myself occupied the past few days with cleaning and spending time with Boo🐱 I've also been giving homebrewing some cider a go. It's been fun learning how it works; I should have some hobo-strength stuff ready to try tomorrow 🍺👴

@jlincolnshow Solid advice! I'd add: sanitization is your real secret weapon. You can have basic gear but perfect sanitation = great beer. And temp control matters way more than fancy equipment. Good luck on that first batch! 🍺
