The Cassidy/Crapo plan actually makes health care significantly *less* affordable. It would increase deductibles and annual max out-of-pocket costs. Stop trying to draw up a new plan on the back of a napkin and extend the current tax credits.
Max Cohen@maxpcohen

New: Thune announces Senate Rs will offer up the Crapo-Cassidy health care bill for a vote this week. The GOP plan focuses on HSAs and will serve as a counter to the Dem 3-yr ACA subsidy extension. “This will actually make health care premiums more affordable,” Thune says

Democrat Senators are coming out against a proposal to make DC square again. As a Virginian, let take on some of their concerns. They say it would disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of VA Democrat voters. Silly… they aren’t being disenfranchised, they are just being redistricted. Calm down, Karen. Further breaking down this concern, I (and most of the rest of the State) don’t consider these people Virginians. They are a different people group with a different culture. Making them DC citizens will put them where they are most comfortable. Do the right thing and Make DC Square Again to preserve the real Virginia

@BrianC_DC No. I’d actually be in favor of Virginia seceding in to 2 or 3 more States or some being absorbed into WV

I am BEGGING reporters to scrutinize the claim that funding CSRs will reduce out-of-pocket costs. It will have zero impact on OOP spending (carriers already have to provide the benefit even if they aren’t directly reimbursed) while raising premiums on millions. @meredithllee

I can’t even enjoy a walk on the greenway without running into foreigners. I’m in Middle Tennessee. I should not be coming across Muslims (possibly Somalians) speaking in a foreign language. They are not wanted here, @GOP! Do what we elected you to do — deport all of these foreigners.

Make no mistake: CBO continues to estimate huge cuts to #Medicaid from OBBBA, last year’s reconciliation bill, despite Trump Admin officials’ false claims otherwise. In fact, CBO projects that 7 million ppl will lose #ACA Medicaid expansion coverage from 2025 to 2032.

🚨 NCAA ASSIST RECORD BROKEN 🚨 Braden Smith records his 1,077th career assist to Trey Kaufman-Renn vs Queen in the Round of 64 of the NCAA Tournament, passing Bobby Hurley for the most assists in NCAA history. The new all-time assist record belongs to the overlooked kid out of Westfield, Indiana. The greatest assist-man in college basketball history belongs to the black and gold.

I'm sorry, this just pisses me off. For the non-Washingtonians on the TL: DC's charter schools tend to be fairly well integrated. You have some middle and high schools that reach about 50% white. But in the mostly white neighborhoods west of the park, you have elementary schools that are in the 60%-70% range. Unsurprisingly, there are more DCPS schools than charters with tiny at-risk populations. The leftist candidate for mayor is saying the charters need to do more to let in poor and minority students. But those public schools dominated by white kids? Lafayette? Stoddert? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, she doesn't know. It just gives away the game that actually what she's worried about is putting restrictions on charters so the teacher's union will be happy.

@brian_blase Not true. The ACA has significant pricing discounts for people who do not smoke (ie engage in a healthy behavior).

The ACA mandated that insurance cover more services, that people could not receive pricing discounts for being healthy or engaging in healthy behaviors, and that massively subsidized insurers selling the product. So, unsurprisingly, premiums went through the roof..

Obamacare’s broken promise: Affordability When the Affordable Care Act was passed in 2010, the American people were promised one thing above all else. It was a goal so central it was written into the name of the legislation. Yet, over 15 years later, we find ourselves in a system that is far from affordable.

None of this is Church teaching, just a poor argument by the USCCB—a far too common occurrence. It’s interesting how the “human dignity” argument is always a one-way street: everything for the foreigner, including lawbreakers, at the expense of the citizen. The Catechism offers helpful guidance here. CCC 2241: “Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants’ duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.” No nation has an obligation to reward those who violate its laws and the human dignity of its citizens in order to enter the country.

U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops files a SCOTUS amicus against Trump's bid to end birthright citizenship They call Trump's order "immoral" and urge the justices to "protect God-given human dignity" by finding it unconstitutional 👀
