@RealAlexBarth If they let him go to free agency, they will lose out on signing him anyways because they won't be willing to match any competing offer. They only open the wallet for the scrubs no one else wants to save money. Might as well trade draft capital because they don't value it anyway

If the Patriots want to add Chase Young (who is on an expiring contract), it makes much more sense to just wait until the offseason and sign him in free agency, rather than give up draft capital now for him now when you still have to give him a new contract anyway.
