September 10 Charlie Kirk Day A new National Holiday. Or make the whole month of Sept a memorial month that we teach the history of 9/11 and Charlie Kirk. 2 years ago, I nearly missed a flight after I got stuck in traffic on my way to the airport. Then I sat next to a stranger on the plane. 2 years later, that stranger will soon be called my husband. Every anniversary I celebrate, I still cannot believe I engaged in stranger danger on an airplane while traveling to another country, where I met my soon to be husband who was also traveling. I seriously never thought I would ever get married to be honest. Let alone meet my husband on an airplane. I’m glad I ran through the airport that day and didn’t miss my flight. Tanner Horner plead guilty to capital murder and kidnapping in the death of 7 year old Athena Strand. The jury has seen what was in that truck and they heard it. They now know she was also s*xually assaulted. In a capital murder case, the law requires the defense to present mitigation like this, including expert testimony. Because he has court appointed counsel, taxpayers are covering it to try and keep him off of death row. In Texas, capital cases often cost around $1.5M to $3M total, and the defense side alone can run to over $1M once you factor in attorneys, investigators, and expert witnesses. And her family has to sit there and hear it all over again. How much are we supposed to spend trying to save a child murderer?
