BYU paid $7 million to AJ Dybantsa.
He led the nation in scoring. Cool.
They finished 10th in the Big 12 and were a 6-seed in the NCAA Tournament after losing a key guard to injury.
They lost to an 11-seed Texas team that finished 10th in the SEC.
Is that NIL $ well spent?

@CBKReport I’ll give you the GCU loss as disappointing even though that team was over seeded, but a 7 seed losing to a 10 seed isn’t a disappointing March outcome.
How many programs have gotten a top 7 seed each of the last 5 years?

So…. they don’t get any protected seeds and don’t make any Sweet 16’s, but consistently wear home whites and have won tournament games three times in five years.
For a small school of 2000 undergrads in a mid-major league. Not seeing the issue here

@Sam_Federman I said these are disappointing outcomes in March, which is objectively true with the seeds they’ve gotten.
Randy is still a great coach and he built a great program, but clearly the March success is lacking.

You can’t criticize somebody for not making Sweet 16’s at a program where they’re not consistently expected to get protected seeds.

His #1 overall squad just went toe to toe with 16 seed Siena who played their starting five for ALL 40 MINUTES.
You can blame it all on execution, but it’s his responsibility to prepare them too.
