Adapting for Tomorrow category winner | Intruder, Anirban Dutta, 2022 – This is an in-camera multiple exposure and long exposure image combining three photos of a drongo bird hunting insects attracted to the light.

Keeping 1.5 Alive category winner | Survival of Buffaloes in Drought, Md Shafiul Islam, 2023 – Northern and western Bangladesh, comprising 22 districts, has faced ongoing drought, affecting herders who rely on river grasslands to raise buffaloes.

Matilde Gattoni is an award-winning photographer covering social, environmental and human rights issues across the Middle East, South and Central Asia, and Africa. She covers topics such as droughts, illegal mining, mass migrations, large scale land grabbing and climate change.
