@HOL_podcast spent a pleasant morning recording our episode on 19th century funerals, with popular returning guest, @moliveiradev The Listers of Shibden Hall were (hopefully) willing examples and biscuits were discussed... Episode will be out at the end of April 😊

Please be aware that all Calderdale Libraries will be closed from Friday 3rd April until Monday 6th April (inclusive). Libraries will return to their normal opening days and times from Tuesday 7th April.

Please note that there will be no Toddler or Baby Bounce and Rhyme sessions at Central Library and Archives on Thursday 26th March. We will be returning to our normal sessions times after the Easter Break on Thursday 16th April.

As spring creeps in we wonder if our next nominee will be this year's winner of Calderdale's Picture Book of the Year? We loved sharing “Once I Was a Tree” by Eoin McLaughlin & Guilherme Karsten because the story made us smile & we learned lots of fascinating facts about nature.

As part of the National Year of Reading, Calderdale Libraries have designed a Reading Challenge with the chance of winning prize. You can complete as many challenges as you want to add multiple entries into the draw. Our first prize draw will take place on Friday 17th April.

The votes have been counted and Calderdale Libraries' BookTrust Storytime winner is....... The Jellyfish Jiggle by Caryl Hart and Nicola Slater! The vibrant illustrations brought to life the animals of the sea with a rhyming story that offered lots of silly actions.

We are half way through our Calderdale Picture Book of the Year sessions, and have loved how excited you have all been for this year's nominees including “I Hate Everything!” by Sophy Henn which was great book for anyone having a really bad day!

This March, Hebden Bridge have taken inspiration from the fever around the new Wuthering Heights film and have a new Bronte display. The display includes novels from the Bronte sisters, film adaptations and biographical non fiction literature. #getcalderdalereading #GoAllIn

Elland Library will be closed for the remainder of this afternoon due to a water leak in the HX5 area. We are aiming to reopen tomorrow Tuesday 10th March at 10am but will keep you updated if anything changes.
