We welcomed a parent into our classroom to read aloud a chapter in Bud, Not Buddy. The students loved it! #WorldReadAloudDay @RCSDMLKJr @RCSDNYS

We love using QFTs (Question Formulation Technique) to generate close & open-ended questions for a deeper dive into grade-level content! @RCSDMLKJr

As an extension of #WorldReadAloudDay students used what they read about engineer Leland Melvin & created their own rockets (markers) that they had to strategically land on the International Space Station (cup). We learned docking spacecraft requires critical thinking @RCSDMLKJr

For #WorldReadAloudDay, we buddy-read about African American explorer, Matthew Henson, and completed a story map. Then, we read about & took a virtual field trip with NASA’s Leland Melvin. This prepared us for our next activity -Docking with the ISS! @RCSDMLKJr

After discussing the new national holiday, Juneteenth, and why we have tomorrow off, the students had to create their own national holiday and persuade the class as to why we should honor it. I told them I’ll send their proposals to @JoeBiden. @RCSDMLKJr

One of my students has taken on the teacher role very well to help her peers create coding projects for our STEAM Zoo! Everyday during this block she adds “Ms.” in front of her name on Zoom, and prefers we address her by that only 😂#StudentAgency @RCSDMLKJr @scratch
