@mngrsplaybook This is the unvarnished truth most composers don’t know about. Improper registration is the issue and publishers are not keen on fixing the disputes and discrepancies as they benefit in the long from black box income in the long run

The black box is the music industry’s lost & found, except the “lost item” is your publishing royalties. Once the song drops and you have writing credit, the clock starts. If you don’t register and claim it globally, that money can get pooled and paid out based on market share.

Registering with ASCAP/BMI/SOCAN etc. is still step one. Do it. But a PRO usually covers performance royalties and collects most directly in one territory. Go global and your money can hit a daisy chain of cuts, delays, and weak transparency. Build the backend.
