I knew my brain was toast within months of my first infection. It took years to get a doctor to listen and run test to prove what I already knew. This is going to happen to so many people. This is just the beginning.

Someone reached out to me a couple of weeks ago, went to college, he's been diagnosed with a progressive brain condition that will end in dementia and death. Anyone else finding out that everything we've been trying to stop is happening? :(

Research indicates that approximately 10 per cent of people infected with Covid-19 may experience Long Covid, with estimates suggesting that at least 65 million individuals worldwide are affected, and this continues to increase annually. h/t @CovidSolidarit1 Link in comments 👇

Covid causes brain damage with every infection. This is a known fact that the media continues to ignore leaving the vast majority ignorant to what Covid really is. It’s a SARS virus and it’s causing dementia in millions of people including kids. There’s no treatment or cures. The only thing we can do is not get Covid. Stop being stupid. Stop spreading Covid.

Covid broke my brain in ways that I can’t even explain. Its heartbreaking watching people I care about experience the same things. They do not see me and they don’t hear my warnings. I know what the future holds. I know the pain and suffering that is coming for so many people and I do not have the strength to watch.

These findings suggest that neuroinflammation could play a key role in the cognitive decline seen in “long COVID,” stressing the need for ongoing monitoring and targeted therapies for survivors. COVID’s Inflammation Linked to Long-Term Brain Effects - neurosciencenews.com/neuroinflammat…

Using ultra-high-resolution scanners that can see the living brain in fine detail, researchers from the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford were able to observe the damaging effects COVID-19 can have on the brain. Getting covid increases your risk of developing some form of mental illness or psychiatric disorder. Guess what increases your chances of getting neuro Long Covid? So get the virus that gives you the comorbidities that cause you to develop degenerative brain disease. Yeah that sounds like a good plan 👍 Vaccination prior to SARS-CoV-2 infection does not prevent the neurologic manifestations of long COVID academic.oup.com/braincomms/art…

I wish that I could convey the seriousness of what is happening, but it seems that no matter how many times I keep telling my story, no matter how many times I share stories of others like me, people still don’t understand. The brain stuff is like being stuck in your body while someone else is in charge. The pain and discomfort caused is immeasurable. Just trying to do anything that requires more than a couple steps to complete is so exhausting for my brain that it will force me to have to lay down after. Sometimes I forget how to read or write or do math. Some days I can’t walk or stand because my brain can’t talk to the rest of my body so my legs don’t work. Sometimes my mouth won’t make words when I talk but I can’t tell that I’m not making real words. Some days I can’t recognize people’s face or everyone looks the same. Some days I can’t understand people when they speak. My brain cannot process it. This doesn’t even scratch the surface of what is happening. My brain thinks everything is normal. But it’s not. This is not normal. None of this.

It has been 5 years since the Covid infection that destroyed my smell & taste, made my brain burn for months, & erased my emotions (& decadeslong anxiety/PTSD symptoms, which seems pretty not normal). When I was cooking yesterday, I accidentally placed a hand towel on a burner. I was standing next to it & I still couldn’t smell it burning. The smoke detector finally alerted me to the burning towel so I addressed it. Later, I realized I put the butter up in the microwave instead of the fridge. My brain is not well. I am completely numb all the time & nothing fazes me. I know this is all very, very wrong but it’s like I’m outside my body & nothing matters. I saw neurology once & they were insulting & dismissive & it was EXTREMELY uncomfortable, so I will probably not be getting help for these issues. Apparently this is all normal in The New Normal. I’m-43 years-old. The number of Americans reporting only a cognitive disability has increased 43% since 2019. We are in so much trouble.

Why is PEM the only symptom anyone seems to focus on? People should be way more worried about the brain fusing that leads to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. But sure, get some rest I guess 🤦‍♀️ A Great Idea for People With a Terrible Disease: Let’s Find a Cure Ourselves nytimes.com/2024/11/26/opi…

If I had gone to the doctor with signs of brain inflammation before 2019 it would have been considered a life threatening emergency. Now it’s just normal stuff that happens after you get Covid and no one seems to be worried about it. Do you guys know what happens when you have chronic brain inflammation? It’s not good.

Long Covid causes brain inflammation. Brain inflammation causes insomnia. Insomnia causes more brain inflammation. Brain inflammation makes Long Covid symptoms worse. Symptoms get worse, more insomnia, more inflammation, rinse and repeat. Do we need to talk about what happens when your brain is chronically inflamed?

Covid causes brain damage much like a TBI with similar symptoms. Untreated it is progressive and turns into something that looks an awful lot like Parkinson’s and Dementia, with a dash of MS just for funnsies. This is happening to KIDS. It’s happening to everyone whether you’re willing to admit it or not. Wake up.
